2009 EIGL Gymnast of the Week - Week 9
Gymnast of the Week
Andrew Stover (Illinois, Chicago)
Stover, a junior from Fullerton, California captured 1st on high
bar(14.6) as the Flames(334.2) split with Nebraska (340.05) and Air
Force (325.30) on Friday night. His high bar performance was one
tenth off of the school record. Competing again on Sunday he turned
in an 84.0 score to capture the all-around as UIC again defeated
Air Force. Andrew is majoring in Entrepreneurship.
Rookie of the Week
Chris Mooney (Temple)
Mooney, a freshman from Freeland, Maryland, won rings(14.7) and
counted on three of four events for the Owls(340.8) in their
homecoming win over Army(317.15) and Navy(323.6). Chris who
suffered a knee injury last year at the 2008 Blackjack Invitational
is just beginning to work the all-around again. A Kinesiology
major, he received his early training under Abdul Mammon at
Ultimate Gymnastics in Maryland.
