2005 Gymnasts of the Week

ECAC Awards for the Weekend of March 11-13

Gymnast of the Week
David Ramos - Temple
Senior, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Ramos scored a 52.875 to win the all-around as Temple turned in a season high 210.425 in a loss to Cal Berkeley (220.95). Counting on 5 of 6 events he won horizontal bar (9.1) and and turned in a 9.5 on floor exercise to place second to NCAA floor exercise champion Graham Ackerman. Ramos is a

2004 ECAC two event champion (floor exercise & horizontal bar).

Rookie of the Week
Dave Locke - William & Mary
Freshman, Natick, Mass.
Locke scored personal bests on floor exercise (9.2) and horizontal bar (8.75) along with 8.8 on vault in a tri-meet Friday night with Army and JMU. He followed this up with scores of 9.0, 8.95, 8.7 on floor exercise vault, and high bar as William & Mary turned in a season high 213.25 in a Sunday loss to highly ranked Penn State. His efforts helped the Tribe earn their two highest team scores for the season.

ECAC Awards for the weekend of March 4-6

Gymnast of the Week
Brian Lee
 - Army
Senior, Freemont, Calif.
The Army team captain led the cadets to a win at home Friday March 4th over Temple (214.60 to 210.05) scoring a 9.8 to win rings. On Sunday March 6th at Blake Arena against Springfield he won rings and horizontal bar as Army captured it's 8th straight match and extending their record to 8 - 1 as the Cadets defeated Springfield with a season high score of 217.525 to 205.85 (Springfield's highest score in 8 seasons).

Rookie of the Week
Andrew Hunt
 - William & Mary
Freshman, Upper Black Eddy, Pa.
Competing in just his second collegiate meet Andrew won an event for the first time earning an excellent 8.7 score on parallel bars in a dual meet against the Naval Academy. In winning parallel bars he defeated teammate and 2004 NCAA parallel bars champion Ramon Jackson. Hunt also scored an 8.0 on horizontal bar to help William & Mary to a 208.9 to 204.15 victory over Navy.

February 25 - 27

Gymnast of the Week
Ramon Jackson  - William & Mary
Orlando, Fla.
He won the all-around with a score of 53.30 (a personal best)along with three events, vault (9.5), parallel bars (9.0), and horizontal bar (9.0) to lead William & Mary to a season high team score in their dual meet win at James Madison. He also placed 2nd on floor exercise and rings.

Rookie of the Week
Andrew Battad - University of Illinois at Chicago
Redshirt Junior, Frankford, Ill.
Andrew, a red shirt junior, in his first year of competition and competing in only his 5th meet won the pommel horse (with a career high 8.9) for UIC at Navy.

February 21

Gymnast of the Week
Luke Vexler
 - Temple
Freshman, Amherst, Mass.
Vexler won the all-around over four other gymnasts (including teammate and two event champion at the 2004 ECAC Championships - David Ramos) at the Temple - Springfield meet (2/20) with a score 51.625 winning floor exercise(9.0) and pommel(8.9)horse and placing 2nd on both vault and horizontal bar.

Rookie of the Week
Mike Assenmacher - Army
Freshman - Milford, Mich.
Assenmacher won floor exercise(9.0) and vault(9.5) at the Army - Navy meet. It was the first time ever to be accomplished by an Army freshman.

February 11-12

Gymnast of the Week
Josh Blackman - Navy
Senior,Fayetteville,Ga.
Blackman placed first in the all-around (51.45) in the All-Academy Championship winning the all-around competition for the second consecutive week (1st place at the Shenandoah Open @ JMU) to be recognized for a second week as  ECAC gymnast of the week.

Rookie of the Week
Tim Burns - Army
Freshman,Ann Arbor,Mich.
Burns receives ECAC recognition for winning horizontal bar at the All-Academy Championship.

February 5-6

Gymnast of the Week
Nelson Jiminez - Springfield College
Senior,Salem,N.H.
Nelson had his best competition of the season against MIT & Vermont winning the all-around competition (48.60) and placing first on two events (8.6 on floor exercise & 9.0 on vault)

Rookie of the Week
Dave Locke - William & Mary
Freshman,Natick,Mass.
Locke scored his all time high scores at the Shenodoah Open at JMU in floor exercise (8.65) and horizontal bar (8.45) and counted for the team score on vault (8.90) as the Tribe earned first place, defeating Navy and JMU at the Shenandoah Open.

January 28

Gymnast of the Week
Nyika White - Temple
Senior,Williamston,N.C.
The Computer and Information Science major Placed 2nd rings @ the West POint Open (behind defending NCAA Champion Kevin Tan - Penn State grad) with a score of 9.80 (performing a triple salto dismount to a perfect landing.

Rookie of the Week
Aaron Ingram - College of William & Mary
Freshman, Paxton, Mass.
Ingram posted scores of 7.85 on pommel horse, 8.25 on rings, 8.0 on parallel bars, and 8.3 on horizontal bar to count for his team on all 4 events.

Week of January 21

Gymnast of the Week
Josh Blackman - U.S. Naval Academy
Blackman placed 2nd in the all-around with career high 51.65 vs. Penn State & Temple @ Penn State.

Rookie of the Week
Andrew Corp - Temple
Freshman, Baldwinsville, N.Y.
In his first collegiate competition counted for team score on all three events that he worked scoring above 8.5 on both parallel bars and horizontal bar.

Week of January 15

Gymnast of the Week
Aric Hines - Springfield College
Scored 8.70 on floor exercise and 9.05 pommel horse.

Rookie of the Week
Chris Tam - U.S. Naval Academy
Freshman
Tam scored 48.94 in the all-around at the Navy Open.

Week of January 8

Gymnast of the Week
Neil Faustino - University of Illinois Chicago
Senior,Stockton,Calif.
The Electrical Engineering major placed 4th All-Around at the Windy City Invitational against all Big Ten schools.
