2008 IFA Championship Results
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Columbia University narrowly edged out the University of Pennsylvania by two victories to win the 2008 Intercollegiate Fencing Association Championship, held at Columbia University.
The total of 137 victories in 188 bouts bettered Penn (135) and gave Columbia its first IFA title since 2003. Three-time defending champion Harvard finished third with 123 victories.
In 2007, Harvard's score of 142 beat out Columbia by four victories (138), and Penn came in third place overall.
The men's 3-weapon team from Columbia led the way with a 69-21 record, nine points ahead of Penn (60-30). On the women's side Penn was supreme, posting an overall mark of 75 victories and 23 defeats. Columbia and Harvard tied for second with 68 victories each.
