Declaration Information

Score Reporting (Divisions II/III)

The score reporting form must be faxed or e-mailed to your respective ECAC liaison at the ECAC office and to each member of the respective selection committee on both the Friday and by noon Sunday before selection call Monday.

Withdrawal Date

In accordance with ECAC Championships Bylaw 2.5 Obligation to Participate, an institution that wishes to withdraw from consideration may do so without financial penalty.  Withdrawals by an athletics administrator are due to the ECAC staff liaison by noon Eastern Time the Friday before the selection conference call.  If your institution is selected to participate in an NCAA championship, said school is automatically withdrawn from consideration for the ECAC championship without penalty.

Late Declarations

Institutions may submit late declarations for championships, accepted until noon the Friday before the selection date, with the understanding that a fine of up to $500 will be levied by the ECAC Championships Committee.

Important Note

The length of the institution's playing season in men's and women's basketball (NCAA Bylaw 17.5.1) shall be limited to a maximum of 19 weeks between the start of preseason practice and the end of the regular playing season including the ECAC postseason championship tournament. Please be aware that participation in the ECAC men's and/or women's championship tournament is not exempt from this 19-week rule. Therefore, institutions must count their team's week of ECAC participation as one of the 19 weeks permitted by NCAA Bylaw 17.5.1. Should an institution have any questions or concerns pursuant to computing the 19 week basketball playing and practice season, please review the guidelines set forth in NCAA Bylaw 17.1, General Playing-Season Regulations or contact Steve Bamford at the ECAC via phone at 508/771-5060 extension 211 or via email at sbamford@ecac.org.
