Wesleyan University - Assistant Athletics Director for Operations
Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Chair, Physical
Education, this position is responsible for the management of
Wesleyan's athletic and physical education facilities.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and managing maintenance projects
- Communicating with external and internal clients about use of facilities
- Scheduling of events in the facilities
- Recruit, train, schedule, evaluate and supervise approximately 60 student employees
- Coordinate custodial operations
- Supervise two person grounds and maintenance crew
- Supervise and schedule interns, part-time and seasonal employees
- Oversight for intercollegiate and rental events
- Provide security for athletic events, including crowd control
- Interface with physical plant operations
- Budget for capital equipment and projects
- Manage special facility projects
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one - three years experience in athletic
facility management or comparable experience including knowledge of
athletic facility and game protocols.
Demonstrated ability organizing projects. Proven ability to communicate well, both orally and written. Willingness to work intensive schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Ability to stand for long period of times. Experience managing
crisis situations, make quick sound decisions and effectively work
with the public
Preferred qualifications:
Masters degree and three + years experience in scheduling and
managing athletic facilities. Experience in pool and ice rink
operations including scheduling. Experience with an on-line
scheduling software. Knowledge about turf care.
Demonstrated leadership skills. Proven ability to work with a
variety of constituents, including college community, parents,
spectators, and local school systems.
