Dave Martin Elected ECAC Treasurer

Dave Martin, Director of Athletics at Misericordia University, has been named treasurer of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The selection was made at the ECAC Annual Convention in Albany, N.Y. The announcement was made by ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling.

The ECAC is the nation's largest collegiate athletics conference, composed of 320 colleges and universities in Divisions I, II and III. A conference of conferences, the ECAC includes within its organizational structure six playing leagues and nine affiliate organizations. The conference office is located in the Asa S. Bushnell Center, located in Centerville, Massachusetts.

Martin's term as treasurer will run from September 2008 to September 2010. Martin also serves on the ECAC Finance Committee.

Martin is in his fifth year as director of athletics at Misericordia University. In his first four years, the Cougars won seven Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championships and earned five NCAA tournament berths. In addition, he guided the Cougars through the transition from the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference to the Freedom Conference and Middle Atlantic States Athletics Corporation (MAC). He has also overseen the addition of men's tennis as a varsity sport offering at MU.

Martin previously spent 14 seasons as head men's basketball coach at Misericordia and served as associate athletic director and coordinator of athletic recruiting. He led the Cougars to 11 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference playoff berths and two PAC finals appearances. Martin compiled 178 career wins at MU and was a four-time PAC Coach of the Year.

A graduate of Wilkes University, Martin earned a master's degree in education from Misericordia.
