ECAC Soccer Referee John Buckley Inducted into National Soccer Hall of Fame

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Dr. John Buckley, an ECAC Soccer referee since 1969, was  inducted into The National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, N.Y. on August 2, 2008. He was part of a class of inductees that included legendary North Carolina women's coach, Anson Dorrance, as well as Indiana men's coach, Jerry Yeagley.

Buckley has done over 1500 matches in his collegeiate career, including refereeing seven NCAA Final Fours. He has refereed championships in all the major soccer conferences from the ACC to the Big East to the Sun Belt.

As the ECAC referee liaison since 1976, he has worked diligently toward the upgrading of soccer officiating nationwide. Buckley has been the NCAA Rules Interpreter for the New England region since 1978 as well as national NCAA Rules Clinician, having conducted referee clinics from N.E. to California.
