PSAC to Host Diversity and Professional Development Workshop for Assistant Coaches

CAPE COD, Mass. - Commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC®) Rudy Keeling announced today that the ECAC is encouraging member schools to participate in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's (PSAC) Diversity and Professional Development Workshop for assistant coaches.  The PSAC workshop will take place December 14, 2009 at the Durwachter Center, located on the campus of Lock Haven University from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

"I commend the PSAC for recognizing the need to provide professional development opportunities in diversity," said Commissioner Keeling.  "Inclusion and diversity education is something that we have included in the ECAC Strategic Plan and it is important for other conferences and institutions to recognize a need for education and development in this area."

The Diversity and Professional Development Workshop was created for assistant coaches of color and female assistant coaches.  The workshop is funded by the NCAA Division II Strategic Initiative Grant Program and Strategic Plan.  The workshop aligns with draft 2.0 of the PSAC Strategic Plan, which includes providing opportunities for diversity and inclusion. The objective of this workshop is to help female assistant coaches and coaches of color progress to highest levels possible during their coaching career.

The registration deadline is December 1, 2009 and participation is limited to the first 50 assistant coaches to submit their registration.  Prior to participation in this workshop, participants will be asked to submit their resume for review and compilation.
