ECAC's Gordon Morton Named Outstanding SID by All-American Football Foundation

Cape Cod, Mass. - ECAC Director of Marketing and Communications Gordon Morton was honored with the Scoop Hudgins Outstanding Sports Information Director Award by the All-American Football Foundation at the 101st All-American Football Foundation Banquet of Champions on October 6 at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis. The award is given by the Foundation to those who excel in their efforts to promote the game of football. Morton currently administers the historic Lambert Meadowlands Football Poll for the ECAC and also coordinates the Eastern College Football Award Banquet each year at the Meadowlands.

Prior to joining the ECAC, he served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Dartmouth College from 2003-2006. During his time in Hanover, he served as the secondary contact for the Big Green football team. His writing was honored with an award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in the 2005-06 Fred Stabley Writing Contest.

Morton also spent seven years working at Brown University, including positions in sports information and athletic development. His work there garnered him gold and silver medals from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and an Award of Excellence from the University and College Designers Association (UCDA).

A native of Barrington, R.I., Morton is a 1993 graduate of Brown University. He has also authored a book on the history of Brown athletics, entitled Brown University Athletics: From the Bruins to the Bears, which was published in 2003.

The award is named after Elmore "Scoop" Hudgins, who was the first SID at both Vanderbilt University and the Southeastern Conference.
