Kevin McGoff Wins ECAC’s George Shiebler Award

CAPE COD, Mass. - Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced today that Kevin McGoff has been selected as the recipient of the 2010 George Shiebler Award presented by Rotasole. He will receive his award on Tuesday, September 28, at the ECAC Honors Banquet presented by Jostens. The luncheon will be held at The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis, Massachusetts during the 2010 ECAC Fall Convention and Trade Show.

The George L. Shiebler Award is presented annually to an ECAC official who has demonstrated dedication to his avocational activities. The award is named after George L. Shiebler, former ECAC commissioner, in honor of his leadership over the many years he was associated with Eastern collegiate athletics.

McGoff has been a basketball and soccer official for more than 35 years, and served as an ECAC soccer assignor for the past 18 years. He is responsible for recording schedules and assigning officials for 65 men’s and women’s teams, 3000 assignments, and over 300 officials per year.

McGoff’s basketball officiating career began in 1972 and he has worked at the Division I, II, and III levels. McGoff has officiated games for the Atlantic-10, Ivy League, Patriot League, and America East at the Division I level and Northeast-10 and SUNYAC at the Division II and III levels. He had the privilege of working the NCAA Division II Finals in 1999 and the NCAA Division III Finals in 2003. McGoff also worked at the high school level for many years and officiated three New York State High School Finals.

McGoff’s soccer officiating resume is equally impressive. He has officiated for the Big East, Atlantic-10, Ivy League, Patriot League, and America East, and has worked both the Big East Championship and the Patriot League Championship. At the Division II and Division III levels, McGoff has worked for the Northeast-10 and SUNYAC, and has officiated ten SUNYAC Championship games. He also worked the NCAA Division III Finals in 1999 and 2003. McGoff worked as a high school official for more than 30 years and officiated ten New York State High School Finals.
