MANCHESTER, N.H.--Roger Crosley, the treasurer of the Eastern College Athletic Conference – Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) since 1987, has announced his retirement from the position at the conclusion of the 2013 fiscal year of the organization.

Crosley joined ECAC-SIDA in 1986 when he assumed the position of Director of Sports Information and Communication at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  The following spring he took over as treasurer from Ed McGrath of Boston University.

“Tony Wells from the University of Rochester was president of ECAC-SIDA at the time,” Crosley said. “I had met Tony when MIT hosted Rochester in a co-ed basketball tournament in November of 1986.  That first year the executive board consisted of Tony, John Garner from the ECAC, and me.  We couldn’t even find a second vice president for a year, so Tony became the first and only two-year president of the organization.”

Since that time ECAC-SIDA has developed an executive board consisting of 13 members, and has earned non-profit organization status.  The organization has legal representation, as well as a fully developed constitution and by-laws.

Crosley will remain as treasurer through the 2013 workshop in his adopted hometown of Manchester, N.H.

“We have come so far as an organization,” Crosley says.  “I have consistently been amazed at the dedication of the people with whom I have served on the executive board throughout the years.  The passion I feel for this organization has been unsurpassed professionally.  While there is never a good time to step away, I feel that this is the right time.”

The ECAC-SIDA Executive Board would like to appoint an assistant treasurer to the board for the coming year with the plan for that individual to succeed Crosley as Treasurer following his departure. This succession plan would aid in the transition process and allow his successor to train throughout the next 12 months, or a full year's cycle of events.

Applications for the assistant treasurer's position are currently being accepted, with the goal of making a selection by this year's workshop (June 5-8) in Pittsburgh.
