ECAC Interns Investigate Their Futures

INDIANAPOLIS, IND - On Thursday, January 25, 2007, the five ECAC interns participated in the 2007 NCAA Conference Intern Seminar held at the National Office.  The weekend long experience was packed with presentations by intercollegiate athletic administrators from across the country focusing on various topics.

The "Investigate YOUR Future" seminar was organized by the current NCAA Interns.  The goal of the seminar was to provide an educational experience, that facilitated dialogue and created awareness regarding social and legislative issues confronting intercollegiate athletics and to advance the attendees personal and professional development within athletic administration.
Asa S. Bushnell Intern for Marketing, Katie Fulton stated "The NCAA Intern Seminar was a great experience-one that all young people entering the field of athletic administration would significantly benefit from."  Fulton further stated that she "was extremely impressed with the quality of the speakers and workshops and was inspired by the passion towards college athletics that was exhibited by those both attending and presenting at the seminar."

Dan O'Reilly, Asa S. Bushnell Intern for Hockey and Rowing emulated Fulton's appreciation for the presenters, stating "The guest speakers shared with us their insight, and discussed the issues and obstacles that we may encounter.  We were provided with an interactive setting that taught each of us how to confront and deal with such situations, and how to become successful administrators in collegiate athletics."

"Not only did the NCAA provide us with the chance to listen to the various presenters during the seminar, but also with the opportunity to speak and make connections with the athletic administrators on a personal level", stated Administrative Intern, Nick Wetherby.  He added that "It was a great experience and recommends it to any intern working in the world of collegiate athletics.

Ciaran Cullen, Asa S. Bushnell Intern for Communications enjoyed "the opportunity to network with fellow interns from across the country while sharing ideas and thoughts on various topics concerning collegiate athletics.  Cullen further stated, "That the learning experience provided was extremely beneficial, as it will help all of us in our young careers trying to advance."

Asa S. Bushnell Intern for Championships, Tyler Paul agrees that "by grouping us with interns from around the country, the NCAA Intern Seminar gave each of us the ability for collaborative thought and problem solving."  Paul particularly enjoyed meeting with professional staff stating "the most beneficial part of the weekend was meeting with administrators who have made their way through the college athletic ranks."
