ECAC Announces New Officiating Coordinators in Basketball and Soccer
CAPE COD, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC®) is pleased to announce the appointment of four new officiating coordinators, three in basketball and one in soccer. Larry Last and Steve Rossetti have been named ECAC Coordinators of Men's Basketball Officials in New England, while Jim Huetter has been named Coordinator of Men's and Women's Basketball Officiating in Upstate New York. Lou Minutoli has been named the ECAC Coordinator of Soccer Officiating in Metro New York.
Last has been an ECAC official since 1986, and has worked NCAA Division II regional and national championships and the NCAA Division III National Championship in 1999. He has worked with the America East Conference as an official since 1999. Last has served as an evaluator at the ECAC/CBOA Instructional Clinic since 2003, and has been an instructor and clinician at the Hoop Mountain Referees Camp since 1993. He won the Vincent R. Cronin Award in 1997-98 for exemplary contribution to the success of the Eastern Massachusetts Board of Basketball Officials.
Rossetti has been a NISOA, NEISOA, and ECAC soccer official since 1975. He served as the ECAC soccer coordinator from 1991 to 2001 and the ECAC Director of soccer from 2001 to 2007. He was named the ECAC Interim Assistant Commissioner for Officiating in 2007 and now serves as the ECAC Assistant Administrator for Officiating. Rossetti has been the New Hampshire Supervisor of Basketball Officials since 2004.
Huetter retired in 2002 after 35 years of active officiating. He officiated Division I basketball for 28 years and was selected to work the NIT eight times and the NCAA tournament once. He also worked the Maui Classic and was named the Metro Atlantic Official of the Year for 2000-2001. Huetter also officiated in the NBA. At present, Huetter is the supervisor of officials for the National Junior College Athletic Association, Region 3 and has held this position for 20 years. From 2006-2008, Huetter was an NCAA Regional Advisor and observed men's Division I games in eight conferences. He is presently an observer for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Huetter is also employed by the NFL as the official play clock operator for all Buffalo Bills home games. He is also the coordinator of the Bills chain crew. Huetter was a world-class cyclist who competed internationally in the 1970's. He was a member of the World Championship, Pan-American and Olympic cycling teams.
Minutoli, a life-long resident of West Hempstead, N.Y., has worked for ten years with NISOA and NYMISOA Chapter Board of Directors. He has been selected to work both Division II and Division III playoff round games. Minutoli is a past board member of the Long Island Soccer Referee Association, and served for twenty years with USSF and Long Island Junior Soccer League. He is an assigner for Nassau/Suffolk Catholic high schools, and is an intramural soccer instructor throughout Nassau County.
