ECAC Announces Officiating Fee Freeze

In the ECAC's ongoing efforts to annually contain officiating costs for our member institutions, ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced that officiating game/contest fees will not increase in the 2009-2010 athletic year and will remain the same as the fees paid during the current 2008-2009 year. In light of the projected budget cuts that every athletic department is facing, coupled with the protracted economic downturn for the foreseeable future, this is the ECAC's way of demonstrating our assistance and support to the institutions enrolled in our 12 officiating bureaus.

The decision to freeze officiating game fees for the 2009-2010 season could not have been made without the cooperation and support of the various sport officiating organizations that the ECAC contracts with on an annual basis. The ECAC is grateful to the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association, National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association, Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Officials Organization and the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials Association for their approval and support of this fee freeze proposal.

Anyone with questions or concerns on this matter should contact Steve Bamford, ECAC Administrator for Officiating and Special Projects, at sbamford@ecac.org.
