ECAC/CBOA Officials Work 7 Overtime Thriller
Skidmore College and Southern Vermont College set the NCAA Division III record for longest game as Skidmore outlasted SVC, 128-123 in 7 overtimes. The game shattered the previous record of 5 overtimes and tied an NCAA all divisions record.
The game lasted a record 3 hours and 40 minutes and offered some incredible statlines.
Skidmore junior guard John Mantas came off the bench and scored 27 points in 59 minutes while fellow junior reserve Melvis Langyintuo contributed 18 points and 21 rebounds in 36 minutes of play.
In a losing effort, SVC junior guard Lance Spratling played all 75 minutes and contributed 31 points. Final stats reported more field goals missed (145) then spectators (142).
ECAC/CBOA Men's Basketball officials Dan Shepardson, Edgar Clodfelter, and Robert Woodard worked the marathon game last night.
Skidmore College head coach Joe Burke will appear on ESPN's First Take this morning at approximately 11:40 a.m. to offer his thoughts on the historic game. The game is reportedly slated to be highlighted on ESPN SportsCenter throughout the day.
